Meet Russell Davis
Noted Nashville pianist, arranger, producer and composer
Among Nashville’s top musicians, wedding planners, caterers and venue managers, Russell Davis is a household name.
Russell is respected as the go-to provider of music ensembles for weddings and other special events, large and small. He’s also a mainstay of Nashville’s music industry as producer, arranger, composer and performer, working with a broad spectrum of artists and styles. He has produced more than 15 recording projects for vocal and instrumental artists, including five solo projects, and is a featured artist on the Green Hill Music roster.
A popular educator, Russell is an accompanist at Harpeth Hall Academy as well as music director for the school’s music theater program. At Belmont University, he was a staff accompanist, specializing in music theater coaching. He also is as accompanist for Nashville Repertory Theater, Nashville Children’s Theater, and is music associate for First Baptist Church of Nashville, and Temple Ohabai Shalom in Nashville. He has performed with artists such as Amy Grant, JoeDee Messina, Ronnie Milsap and and plays the classical pipe organ and keyboard as well as piano.
Other projects include a recent collaboration with Grammy-nominated saxophonist Jeffrey Kirk, who is the Associate Dean of Belmont’s School of Music, on the album “Come Thou Fount.” Russell was pianist and producer and joined Jeff on tour dates.
Among other recent recordings is “O Then I’ll Think of Thee,” with violinist David Angell, a collection of antebellum Americana music that includes waltzes, polkas and haunting melodies of love popular during that era. All the selections music on “O Then I’ll Think of Thee” were found in the archives of Belle Meade Plantation, Belmont Mansion, and Travellers Rest and taken directly from songbooks compiled by the mistresses of each estate.

That project also elegantly combines the great interest Russell, a 7th generation Tennessean, has in Nashville history, music and Southern architecture. For wedding and event clients, his love of music plus deep appreciation of his native city, its history and landmarks produce signature experiences that are, in a word, unforgettable.
